The History of the “TIT”

The Tull Invitational Golf Tournament
AKA “The TIT”
Celebrating 30+ Years

A Little History

The Tull Invitational is a private golf event that was started back in 1983,
primarily to allow friends to get together more than once a year (then only at the Christmas
Holiday Season). Since this time the event has continued for 30 years.

The event is home to some pretty prestigious awards, including the infamous “Double Noose” and the Low Net Traveling Trophy known as the “Horse’s Ass”. Each year
we try to play a different course in the greater Detroit area. For a summary of
the courses we have played and the Low Net "Weeners" and Low Gross winners,
follow the link under "Weeners" on the left navigation pane. (And yes,
I know we are missing some years data, but this comes with old age – I (we) just
can’t remember)

Since there is a wide range of golfer ability, the TIT uses the Calloway Handicapping
system to score each event. This allows for any golfer to win the coveted "Horse's
Ass" Low Net trophy. The Callaway system is sanctioned by the USGA,
However, the TIT uses a modified version, since we have no scratch golfers (yet).
Click on the upper navigation bar "Callaway System"to gain an understanding
of how the system works.

In Honor of our Brother, Steven C. Tull, we have dedicated a few memorial pages
on this site. Please feel free to visit the link on top to gain a little more insight
into Steve's life. Steve – "We Miss You".

Steve died prematurely at the age of 55 from a disease/addiction known as alcoholism.
Since Steve's passing, the tournament and it's participants have donated
cash to "Brighton Hospital" in support substance abuse. Please help where
you can.

To gain a little insight into the TIT and some of our previous years stats and pictures,
feel free to click on any of the navigation links.

The Tournament Committee welcomes you to the "TIT".
